Year 3 at The Tanto International School provides children with an opportunity to broaden and extend their experience, knowledge and skills throughout their school day. The children in this class extend the basics concepts learnt in the core subjects (English and Mathematics) during Year 2. All lessons are taught with a balance of creativity and focus on learning and progress. The children are supported in the class by an extra adult each day to offer any extra support, in specific areas, for English and Mathematics in order to maximize each child's progress and learning.
The curriculum is organised around routines that enable young children to share ideas, learning and their development. The first steps of learning centre around the Tanto 3 C's (care, cooperation and courtesy) as these play an important role in understanding wider responsibilities towards their classmates and adults at school and home.
In this curriculum, subject specific lessons begin to form and children develop their own connections between learning across the broader curriculum. This is the last class in our Lower School and confidence and maturity in learning is beginning to grow ready for some more independent learning strategies in the Upper School and onwards.
Reading is extremely important at this age and children have a wonderful library in class and opportunities to take home an appropriate book each day.
